Physical Therapy

&  Wellness Center, Inc.

7800 Red Road. Suite 105. South Miami, FL 33143

MARCH 2020

"Dear PTWC Patrons, Alum, and Family,

I trust that you have received our text or call if you had a scheduled sessions during the pandemic. For those of you that have future sessions in the upcoming weeks, please note that I have decided to temporarily close PTWC starting, Monday, March 16th, 2020.

When I first started working on the name and logo of the company 17 years ago, my vision was to create a safe interactive center in which all of you, our staff and families can focus on enhancing quality of movement and life. Today, we are globally experiencing uncertainty as COVID-19 continues to spread and impact our community. For me, the health, well-being and safety of our patrons, staff, families and community remains the highest priority. Even though the external forces that are coming our way are disturbing, I ask that you keep your internal power ON! That includes your CORE!

Though our decision to close does not come lightly, it is our responsibility as global citizens to lead our community in the preventative measures that will protect all of us, which includes "social distancing". Like our fascia, the global community is made up of a web of connections; one movement affects another, and creates a ripple effect in our universal body. As we begin to self-quarantine, we can assure that that body can stay healthy, move, and continue to connect us all. That same "marvelous vibrating crystal web" as spoken of by Dr. Carol Davis is what will keep us all going in this time of uncertainty. As we protect it and ourselves, we assure that we can recover from these troubling times together.

As we continue to monitor the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, and our local authorities regarding COVID-19, a member from our team will be contacting you to reschedule all of your upcoming appointments.

Cindy, Jeci and I will be available between 9:00 am to 6:30 pm to address any questions you may have at 305-779-2427. You can also reach me directly at 305-775-9114.

The Therapy Team is also available to you via email or phone call to review any home exercise programs or answer any questions you may have. Their contact information can be found below for your convenience.

Let's continue to focus on prudence and precaution. This too, shall pass, and through it all, we will all learn unforgettable lessons on faith, love, excellence, ingenuity, resilience, and compassion. Let's continue to support each other as the Physical Therapy and Wellness Center family that we are.

Thank you for your loyalty and trust."

JUNE 2020

Happy Anniversary!

On June 10, 2020, Jecilin Castro-Giraldo celebrated her first year here at PTWC, and on June 29, 2020 Valentina Briceño celebrated 4 years at PTWC. Congrats ladies!

Ohhh Noooo ............ Dr. Tischenko has emergency surgery!

On October 5th, Dr. Tischenko undergoes appendectomy. After 12 hours of epigastric pain, the pain pattern changed and the rebound test in her lower right abdominal area is positive. When she arrived to South Miami's Hospital Emergency Room, she discussed with the surgeon the importance of not using her prior laparoscopic entry sites nor her belly button. So this is how the conversation went:

Dr. Tischenko -"The integrity of the fascia and linea alba is crucial in the proper function of the core, respiration, pelvic floor and more". "Once you do an incision via the belly button, the fascia wall weakness and you run the risk to first develop a umbilical hernia and eventually a diastasis recti."

Surgeon - "Oh I see, it makes sense, but I was trained to do it via the belly button for aesthetics".

Dr. Tischenko - "I understand, but the problem is that the defect of the fascia and the weakness of the core and pelvic floor happens overtime. These impairments can then lead to: pelvic floor dysfunction, low back pain, core instability and many more pathologies that require medical intervention and/or physical therapy treatment."

Dr. Tischenko, after surgery experienced a skin infection and formation of suture granulomas. She was treated with antibiotics and local lidocaine with steroid injections to help treat the granulomas. Below, Dr. Tischenko is being treated by Dr. Monica Arreaza for tissue integration, assisted soft tissue mobilization and myofascial release (MFR)

Happy Holidays From The Team At PTWC!

I'M BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

Dear PTWC Patrons,

As the holiday season approaches, we find ourselves at a crossroads. During this Thanksgiving, while we encourage you to celebrate with your family and loved ones, we also ask that you seek to understand what the current frontier demands. While Thanksgiving this year is coming to us at a time of uncertainty due to COVID-19, we can still be assured of the fact that as a community, we are more resilient, more caring, and more conscious of the common good than ever before.

Be as safe as you can; Use caution and compassion. While we may have had to adjust our “traditional” Thanksgiving rituals, we will never have to adjust our thankfulness or our ability to express our love and gratitude for everything and everyone around us.

This year, we will have the amazing ability to not only be grateful for our immediate family, but for all of those who have helped keep us safe amidst this global health emergency. Please share a moment with us this Thanksgiving holiday to send your love and thanks to all of the healthcare and essential workers that have made this year better or safer for us all.

We would also like to take this time to tell you how very grateful we are for YOU. Thank you for your continued love, patience, understanding, and support. Without you, we would not be where we are today.

We look forward to our continued and joined growth and we thank you for your ongoing trust and dedication. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday!

With
GRATITUDE & ADMIRATION,

Dr. Anna Katerina Tischenko
& the PTeam

A message from Dr. Tischenko:

" Celebrating 17 years of healing, coaching, mentoring, lecturing, consulting ....... growing.

Being a private practice owner as a female entrepreneur, latina with a combined physical therapist & PhD for 17 years is as unique as it can get. My courage, optimism, vulnerability, innovation and determination comes inspired everyday by my patients, staff, mentors, family, colleagues, students, volunteers, 3 incredible daughters and the energy surrounding me.

As an entrepreneur, every breakdown comes with a breakthrough. Challenges turn into opportunities, incredibly complex cases have embraced my ‘outside the box thinking’ and climbed mountains.

If you are reading this post and you are a patient, caregiver, mentor, coach, colleague, students, volunteer, graduate, friend, and/or family ..... THANK YOU & congratulations 🍾 This is our celebration!

To my PTeam & ATeam .... thank you for your trust!"
